Montreal-based apparel brand NemräC Style premieres collection October 7 ahead of Toronto expansion plans

Toronto, October 3rd, 2016 – NemräC Style, a Montreal-based label for men and women is proud to announce that their new collection was one of five selected to be featured on the Runway at Startup Fashion Week (SFW) in Toronto on October 7. NemräC Style was the only Montreal brand selected to showcase. "Showcasing my collection at Startup Fashion Week is a milestone for me because it’s an opportunity to launch my brand in Toronto and make new business connections," says Carmen Popescu, Designer of NemräC Style. “Growth and timing are strategies that can be hard to master in the Business of Fashion but the time is right and I’m ready to add to what I have accomplished in Montreal.  I’ve studied the fashion market in Toronto and I truly believe that NemräC Style could be a great fit with the fashion clientele in and around the city, and even the province.” NemräC Style's 2016 line is an avant-garde geometric aesthetic, which includes sleek and minimalist lines with day and night color palettes consisting of a contrasting assortment between black, gray and white with a pinch of unexpected color at times. “Having flirted once with the idea of becoming an architect, my appreciation with clean, structural lines and fascination for geometry has become an intrinsic part of my brand’s style,” says Popescu. Startup Fashion Week has featured emerging Designers from Toronto, Montreal, Saskatoon and Saint John.  SFW selects Designers based on a number of criteria and they have seen an increase in applications over the three years that they have been producing the annual event.  This has prompted expansion plans to host Startup Fashion Week in other cities starting in 2017. "Startup brands and entrepreneurs need opportunities to capture an audience where they can have brand presence and leverage access to media exposure.  These marketing strategies lead to new business opportunities and growth.  In fact, many of our alumni have grown into successful businesses after participating at Startup Fashion Week,” says Goodfellow. “However, as much as the Runway is an excellent way to build visibility for an emerging Designer we also encourage our participants to attend the other events at Startup Fashion Week, which are focused on networking and learning from Industry Professionals in Conference and Forum settings.” Carmen understands the importance of networking to establish connections in the Industry.  She attended Startup Fashion Week’s first event in Montreal this past June, which is where she learned of the opportunity for this October’s debut in Toronto. The Future of Fashion Runway Show takes place at 99 Sudbury (99 Sudbury Street, Toronto), from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite. Hope to see you there!

After graduating in 2008 with a degree in Fashion Design from the Collège Marie-Victorin, and subsequently in 2011 with a BA from the École Supérieure de Mode de Montréal at UQAM, Carmen was awarded the highly illustrious honor of interning for the internationally renowned designer Jean-Paul Knott in Brussels, Belgium – an experience that only further confirmed her passion for the craft. About Startup Fashion Week Startup Fashion Week (SFW) is the first of its kind, representing the newly developed intersection of fashion, business, and technology. Conceived in 2014 by Founder and Executive Producer Jodi Goodfellow, SFW was created to bridge the gap between the growing fashion and tech industries in Canada and focuses on aiding to launch, accelerate, and sustain these startup businesses. Initially formed as a 3 day platform as a Business of Fashion Conference, Fashion Tech Forum and a Runway Show, SFW has now helped to launch and profile amazing Canadian designers from cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Saskatoon, and Saint John.  SFW has featured designers such as Amanda Maria, Atelier Guarin, She Native, By Catalfo and fashion tech startups such as Daniel Christian Tang, Prodmode and Muse.
